The prevention and control of Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDs) is a top priority for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). As the Director of PAHO, I am pleased to share the independent evaluation report of PAHO's Technical Cooperation in NCDs Prevention and Control in the Americas. This evaluation reviewed PAHO's performance in responding to our mandate to support countries in the Region tackle NCDs and will serve to strengthen the Organization’s response to this urgent public health challenge.

This important evaluation resulted in 12 recommendations to align the Organization’s response, strengthen multisector partnerships, and mobilize resources, among others. PAHO welcomes the findings of this evaluation and reaffirms its commitment to implement its recommendations to advance the NCDs prevention and control agenda with Member States and partners.

Besides reaffirming our continuous desire for improvement and learning, this insightful document reiterates PAHO‘s steadfast dedication to working with countries in the Region to support the accelerated implementation of interventions to address NCDs and mental health and  help build stronger, healthier societies for all.
