During the measles outbreak, PAHO played a central technical and strategic role by supporting the Ministry of Health and Sports to lead a comprehensive response aimed at interrupting transmission and protecting the country’s health status. Technical cooperation supported the alignment of epidemiological surveillance, intensified vaccination activities, and rapid response actions with regional standards.
PAHO also facilitated the coordination of international cooperation and the mobilization of resources among bilateral and multilateral partners, as well as from the United Nations system, helping to optimize the use of available resources. This support strengthened national capacity to respond to outbreaks of vaccine‑preventable diseases, contributing to the protection of population health, particularly among groups in situations of vulnerability.
