With technical support from PAHO, Argentina’s Ministry of Health advanced the digital modernization of the health system by strengthening interoperability and promoting the strategic use of data for health decision-making.
PAHO provided strategic technical cooperation through the implementation of two national Datathons in 2025, conceived as collaborative spaces to strengthen information governance, improve data quality, and build institutional capacities for data analysis and use. As a result, information flows across the health system were mapped, duplications and critical gaps were identified, and concrete opportunities for system integration were defined, laying out the groundwork for a more coherent and efficient data architecture. In this context, data quality in immunization was strengthened, with sustained improvements achieved in the Nominal Vaccination Registry across all 24 jurisdictions.
These advances made it possible to move toward a more integrated, transparent, and evidence-oriented information ecosystem. In addition, innovative approaches related to record standardization, data visualization, and the responsible use of advanced analytical tools, including artificial intelligence applied to health, were incorporated. These actions were aligned with the Roadmap for the Digital Transformation of the Health Sector and with the Regional Plan for Health Information Systems 2024–2030, contributing to strengthening the system’s capacity to plan, monitor, and respond more effectively to the population’s needs.
