PAHO significantly strengthened Grenada’s capacity to prepare for and respond to health emergencies. Technical assistance supported updates to multihazard emergency plans and completion of after-action reviews, including lessons learned from Hurricane Beryl, ensuring that preparedness measures were informed by real-world experience.
PAHO also reinforced surveillance and laboratory readiness through digitalization of syndromic and event-based surveillance, deployment of DHIS2 modules, and training to strengthen diagnostic and antimicrobial resistance testing capacity. These outputs improved early warning, situational awareness, and the speed of response to public health threats.
At the subregional level, strengthened coordination mechanisms and shared tools further enhanced Grenada’s operational readiness within the Eastern Caribbean context. By improving preparedness, surveillance, and response systems, PAHO’s cooperation helps safeguard the continuity of essential health services during emergencies and reduces the health impact of future shocks on the population.
