During the 2024–2025 biennium, Aruba strengthened its capacity to address the health impacts of environmental challenges, including climate change, by supporting a comprehensive vulnerability and adaptation assessment.
Through technical leadership from PAHO and the use of regional guidelines, national counterparts were supported in identifying priority climate‑sensitive health risks, groups in situations of vulnerability, and critical gaps in health system preparedness. This provided the territory with a targeted, evidence‑based foundation for planning adaptation measures.
This achievement strengthened capacity for anticipatory action, enabling Aruba to move from ad hoc responses toward structured health planning, better manage climate‑related health risks, improve preparedness and resource allocation, and reinforce long‑term resilience in a small-island context.
