Health governance and service planning capacity strengthened

During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO provided sustained technical cooperation to strengthen Grenada’s health governance and stewardship, contributing to a more coherent and evidence-informed health system.

A key contribution was support to health workforce governance, including capacity-building in human resources for health planning and forecasting and the establishment of a centralized electronic health workforce database. These advances improved the availability and quality of workforce data, enabling the Ministry of Health to make more informed decisions on workforce deployment, skills mix, and future investments. In parallel, PAHO supported service delivery optimization through the application of the global Strategic Planning for Districts and Integrated Services Delivery tool, enabling systematic mapping of services across levels of care.

This analysis identified gaps, overlaps, and opportunities for integration, strengthening the foundation for more efficient referral pathways and better alignment of services with population needs. These efforts enhanced stewardship functions, reinforced evidence-based planning, and improved the enabling environment for access to quality health services. By strengthening governance, workforce intelligence, and service planning, PAHO’s cooperation contributes to more resilient health service delivery in Grenada, supporting progress toward health for all and improved health outcomes.
