Noncommunicable disease prevention and care capacity expanded

With PAHO technical support, Grenada strengthened governance and service delivery for noncommunicable disease (NCD) prevention and care. During the biennium, Grenada completed or updated its national NCD plan, establishing a clearer policy framework for population-level risk factor reduction and integration of NCD services into primary health care. PAHO also supported the scale-up of the HEARTS initiative, improving standardized management of hypertension and diabetes and expanding the use of digital platforms for NCD surveillance. In parallel, Grenada advanced cervical cancer elimination efforts, including progress on HPV vaccine introduction and screening expansion, and strengthened its cancer registry, improving the availability of high-quality data for monitoring and accountability.

These efforts reinforce Better Care for NCDs by linking policy, service delivery, and information systems. They contribute to earlier diagnosis, improved quality of care, and stronger prevention efforts, with anticipated long-term impact on premature mortality and avoidable complications from NCDs.
