During the biennium, PAHO supported the country in strengthening the delivery of telehealth services through the procurement of 20 telekits through the PAHO Regional Revolving Funds, ensuring agile, transparent purchasing processes aligned with international quality standards. Technical cooperation included advisory support for the technical selection of the equipment, alignment with the national telehealth model, and its operational integration into the service delivery network.
The incorporation of this strategic equipment made it possible to expand teleconsultation, telediagnosis, and teleorientation services in first‑ and second‑level health facilities, with particular emphasis on rural and hard‑to‑reach areas. This achievement reduces geographic barriers, improves continuity of care, and strengthens local resolutive capacity, facilitating access to health services for all and consolidating telehealth as a structural component of the health system, with a direct impact on service coverage and quality.
