During the 2024–2025 biennium, the Dominican Republic achieved a significant reduction in neonatal mortality of 16% compared with 2024, following a set of coordinated strategic interventions carried out under national leadership and with PAHO technical cooperation, focused on strengthening comprehensive care for mothers and newborns, promoting improvements in service quality, organizing care networks, and using cost‑effective health technologies.

During the 2024–2025 biennium, the Dominican Republic became the first country in the Region of the Americas to formally establish a consultative forum within the framework of the Alliance for Primary Health Care in the Americas, consolidating an innovative coordination model to strengthen the first level of care.

During the 2024–2025 biennium, the Dominican Republic consolidated sustained progress toward the elimination of priority communicable diseases by strengthening its strategic approach and progressively aligning with the Disease Elimination Initiative.

During the 2024–2025 biennium, the Dominican Republic made progress in consolidating public policies to improve the care of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) through several actions implemented with technical cooperation from PAHO, including the launch of two key documents aligned with regional plans: the Strategic Plan for the Prevention and Control of NCDs 2025–2030 and the Strategic Plan for Mental Health 2025–2030.
