PAHO provided decisive support to Colombia in the launch and initial implementation of the Public Policy on Human Talent for Health 2025–2035, a strategic milestone for the sustainability of the health system.
During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO played a key role in strengthening the structure and quality of the Colombian health system through its close technical cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.
Within the framework of the regional initiative Better Care for NCDs, PAHO promoted an innovative intersectoral approach in Colombia to reduce risk factors for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), focusing on promoting physical activity in school settings.
With technical support from PAHO, Colombia made considerable progress in implementing the national plan for eliminating and sustaining the elimination of communicable diseases and priority conditions 2025-2031, validated with academia and scientific societies, and aligned with PAHO's Disease Elimination Initiative.
During the biennium, PAHO provided comprehensive support for strengthening preparedness and response to health emergencies and disasters in Colombia, with a multihazard and territorial approach.
