During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO made a decisive contribution to the comprehensive strengthening of the national laboratory network, consolidating critical capacities for preparedness against epidemic and pandemic threats.
During the measles outbreak, PAHO played a central technical and strategic role by supporting the Ministry of Health and Sports to lead a comprehensive response aimed at interrupting transmission and protecting the country’s health status.
During the biennium, PAHO supported the country in strengthening the delivery of telehealth services through the procurement of 20 telekits through the PAHO Regional Revolving Funds, ensuring agile, transparent purchasing processes aligned with international quality standards.
PAHO contributed to the significant strengthening of health workforce competencies in critical areas of maternal and neonatal care through standardized training with national reach, including obstetric emergencies (300 participants), severe maternal morbidity (500), risk‑based antenatal care (600), and neonatal resuscitation (240).
During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO supported the country in achieving a key structural milestone in the elimination of cervical cancer as a public health problem, through the formulation and publication of the National Plan to Accelerate the Elimination of Cervical Cancer 2026–2030.
