During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO provided direct technical cooperation to Saint Lucia to strengthen health governance and stewardship through the application of the Essential Public Health Functions (EPHF) assessment and strategic planning support.
PAHO strengthened Saint Lucia’s access to safe, effective, and quality medicines and health technologies by supporting subregional collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Procurement Service of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States.
With sustained technical assistance from PAHO, Saint Lucia advanced the integration of mental health into PHC through strengthened governance, policy reform, and workforce capacity-building.
PAHO supported Saint Lucia in strengthening governance and service delivery for NCDs by providing direct technical cooperation to update national NCD planning and expand evidence-based interventions in PHC. Key contributions included support to national policy frameworks, scale-up of the HEARTS initiative for hypertension and diabetes management, and strengthening of digital surveillance platforms to improve monitoring and decision-making.
PAHO strengthened Saint Lucia’s capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to health emergencies through comprehensive technical support in the areas of preparedness, surveillance, and coordination. This included training in incident management systems, emergency operations, and mass casualty and all-hazards response, as well as support for the digitalization of syndromic and event-based surveillance systems.
