During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO played a key role in consolidating telehealth and teletriage as components of national policy in Chile, contributing to the strengthening of primary health care (PHC) toward a more resolutive, timely, and people-centered model. Through sustained technical cooperation, methodological development, capacity-building, and digital interoperability, PAHO supported the Ministry of Health in expanding and standardizing teletriage across the public health network, reaching all 29 health services and supporting its implementation in more than 400 family health centers.
During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO supported Chile in scaling up the use of the Productive Management Methodology for Health Services (PMMHS), strengthening the capacity of the hospital system to make evidence-based decisions on financing, efficiency, and resource use.
During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO contributed to strengthening Chile’s digital health ecosystem through technical support for semantic standardization, interoperability, and the strategic use of information systems oriented toward clinical management and public health surveillance.
During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO supported Chile in integrating a healthy aging approach into PHC through the adaptation and implementation of the Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) framework and the strengthening of interventions across the life course.
During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO supported the consolidation of a strategic and intersectoral political agenda in Chile to address the environmental determinants of health. Through technical cooperation, PAHO facilitated collaboration among the Ministry of Health, the Agricultural and Livestock Service of Chile, regional governments, and municipalities to address the impact of environmental challenges including climate change, air pollution, heatwaves, and challenges related to rural water and sanitation.
