During the 2024–2025 biennium, PAHO made a pivotal contribution to strengthening Peru’s national epidemiological surveillance system and its capacity to respond to outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases.
Peru strengthened the surveillance, prevention, and control of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health conditions, contributing to a more integrated and sustainable health system response.
During the biennium, Peru strengthened its capacity to respond to HIV, viral hepatitis, and sexually transmitted infections through an approach aligned with the PAHO Disease Elimination Initiative.
During the 2024–2025 biennium, Peru took significant steps to consolidate an approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health through targeted interventions in priority departments, with the aim of improving coordination among national, intermediate, and local levels to address infections related to poverty conditions.
During the 2024–2025 biennium, Peru strengthened the national capacities of its health system for preparedness, response, and resilience in the face of health emergencies, humanitarian crises, and displaced populations, with a cross-cutting emphasis on health for all, a migration-focused approach, and the protection of populations in situations of vulnerability.
